Creationist Wisdom #93: Nothing From Nothing

WE present to you, dear reader, a letter-to-the-editor titled Columnist, Evolutionists are wrong , which appears in the Carman Valley Leader, a tabloid newspaper in Carman, Manitoba. We’ll copy most of today’s letter, omitting the writer’s name and city, and adding some bold for emphasis and our Curmudgeonly commentary between the paragraphs. Here we go:

Evolution cannot make sense because in a nutshell the Theory of Evolution can only be summed up as, “nobody (no Creator) times nothing equals everything.” But reality is that nothing only produces nothing and out of nothing, nothing comes.

It’s nice to see that Ray Comfort has a convert in Canada. Let’s read on:

Evolution goes against all logic and reason because it is the belief our universe was formed by chance. How can chance cause anything? Chance is not a force. Chance is nothing, so therefore it has no power to do anything. How can you have any cause to cause everything else if that cause came by chance and from nothing out of thin air?

Yes, evolution is “the belief our universe was formed by chance.” Darwin was a fool! We continue:

How did matter come from nothing? Or energy? How did living material come from non-living material? How does the universe stay together and keep going by sheer happenstance?

Hey, he’s got a point. How does the universe stay together? This letter is great! Let’s keep going:

It makes no intellectual sense to believe intelligence or intellect originated from nothing and was caused by chance.

Keen insight! Here’s more:

Evolutionists say follow the scientific facts. We’ve incessantly heard from the global warming propagandists like David Suzuki, Al Gore, Elizabeth May, the United Nations and company. Follow the facts that are causing the earth to fry they scream, for the “science is settled”.

But now we have Climate-gate. Hackers hacked into the computers of the Climate Research Unit, the UN source for “proof” of global warming. They obtained e-mails from scientists who were in discussions of how to twist and change the global weather data they collected. The inconvenient truth shows global warming is a fraud. Since we cannot believe global warming scientists, should we believe evolutionists?

Another great point. We can’t believe any of them. Never could. Moving along:

The real reason why people embrace evolution is the fact they want to live without accountability, and live whatever lifestyle they want without guilt. If they entertain that a God or supreme being created everything and is sovereign, therefore he would be sovereign over human conduct. The Creator would have to be a lawgiver and most importantly the highest judge of the universe.

This guy makes a lot of sense! And now we come to the end:

They shudder at the prospect of facing God as Judge.

[Writer’s name and city can be seen in the original.]

With testimony like that, evolution is doomed.

  1. So, according to this guy all scientists have either missed or ignored the overriding effect of chance to cancel out everything around us and instead concentrated on finding pesky laws of science and theories that turn chance into near certainty. Not content with that, have manufactured or manipulated data for over 400 years to give the appearance that these laws and theories work. On a grand scale, over the entire Universe and in real demonstrative ways in our own lives… And its all so that we can do whatever we want? In spite of empathy, personal benefits, and social ties which evolution graced us with as social apes? I don’t know about you guys, but if scientists are really capable of pulling this off, then forget bronze age myths, my monies going to them!

  2. Albanaeon says: “And its all so that we can do whatever we want?”

Sure. Haven’t we all used the line: “Ah, my sweet, don’t withhold your favors. The universe began with a Big Bang, so let us make love tonight!”

  3. From what I understood the total of all energy in the universe IS zero. Given that energy and matter equate the universe sums to nothing.

This would mean that the universe was created from nothing by quantum perturbations?

  4. Chris P says: “This would mean that the universe was created from nothing by quantum perturbations?”

I try not to worry about the universe. It’s big enough to look after itself.

  5. It never fails that anti-evolutionists proclaim that pro-evolutions as immoral, guilt-free criminals. There is the possibility that one can both believe in evolution and not be a criminal looking for an excuse to feel guilt free. This reminds me of the xenophobics who use the unfounded belief reason of increase in crime as an excuse to control immigration.
