Discovery Institute: Busted?

IN May of last year we posted Discovery Institute: Casey on Fox & Friends. That appearance by Casey Luskin obviously bothered a lot of people.

An internet personage known as DonExodus2 made this video. We can’t vouch for anything it says, and we usually don’t post about internet chatter; but this video is interesting and it’s only about five minutes long:

  1. Being near deaf and with the poor sound quality, I couldn’t hear what this guy was saying so I can’t comment on the video. Any chance of a synopsis? Anyway, I found it interesting that the Google ads that appeared on the bottom of the screen all promoted ID and Christianity. Was I targeted for these or does anyone else see them?

  2. RogerE, I use AdBlock Plus, a Firefox add-on, so I rarely see ads. In the video, the guy essentially says he made an earlier video criticizing Casey’s appearance on Fox. The earlier video included the Discoveroids’ logo. He also says the Discoveroids tried to get Youtube to take down his video (tried to get it Expelled, so to speak) because the use of the logo was illegal. According to this video, the Discoveroids’ reasons are bogus. Not earth-shaking news.

  3. There are two dimwits that the DI either relies on for situations like this or who have the pull to get the DI to do something more stupid than usual; Luskin in the former case and Dembski for the latter.

Luskin has a thing for making stupid choices and Dembski has a thing for censoring anything that may make him look less than the new Newton.

Hey Luskin, I know you’re Googling your name and I know you can see I’ve got a strong grip on your little monkey tail and am about to give it a vicious tug, so come on over and whine a bit. I can tear you a new one.

If you’re one of those with the time and interest to bug DI folk directly (it’s not easy given how they censor inconvenient comments), please remind them of how they avoid Talk.Origins, Panda’s Thumb and other boards where they are cordially welcome to elaborate on their position and answer a few questions that they rarely get where they control the terms. Ask them why they keep “expelling” themselves.

  5. DonExodus is probably much further left than you or I, but I’ve found him to be assiduously factual in all things, and very logical. He’s a big supporter of science at Youtube, and I’ve posted his vids on my blog before.

  6. Thanos, almost everyone is further left than I am, by which I mean that I’m solidly with the Founders and the Constitution, although not even close to the crazy wing of the GOP. Anyway, science has to be defended, so that’s what we do here. I really appreciate your occasional links to us at Little Green Footballs.

  7. Hey, everybody check out Thanos‘ blog: Noblesse Oblige.

  8. This sort of thing is happening fairly often these days on Youtube. Mostly it’s creationists or religious people get offended by more rational people’s videos and file a DMCA claim. Just about every time it either false or the material is actually protected under headings of criticism or educational, which irritates creationist even more, since as ever, legal protection favors their foes.

“If you notice, the only websites that can get away such rubbish are the sites that don’t allow public comments. Too many people are on to them and are fed up with it. “
