Creationist Wisdom #150: Lie of Evolution

WE present to you, dear reader, a letter-to-the-editor titled ‘Lie of evolution’ deeply ingrained in society, which appears in the Kennebec Journal of Augusta, Maine. We’ll copy most of today’s letter, but we’ll omit the writer’s name and city. We’ll also add some bold for emphasis, plus our usual Curmudgeonly commentary between paragraphs. Here we go:

The lie of evolution is so deeply ingrained in our society that we are afraid to teach even the “theory” of creation in our schools. Evolution has bred corruption into every facet of our lives.

Corruption! Let’s read on:

Darwin’s teacher believed that his sole purpose was to make us “independent of the creator.”

Yes — Christ’s College, Cambridge, where Darwin studied for the Anglican clergy, was notorious for that sort of thing. We continue:

To deny God’s existence, people quickly adopted his ideas. Insisting that there is no creator doesn’t make him cease to exist. The Earth itself declares there is a creator. Even NASA astronauts, after going into space for the first time, cannot deny God’s existence.

Space travel can have that effect. Here’s more:

All the great scientific discoveries came from Bible-believing scientists, including Isaac Newton, Robert Boyles, Michael Faraday, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and Louis Pasteur. They knew that each fact of the universe must be understood in the context of God’s holy word.

Today’s letter-writer is very well-informed. Hey — you probably didn’t know this:

In fact, there have been few major scientific discoveries since we decided to deny the truth of God’s Word.

Consider the nit-wits who brought us: Japanese beetles to “pollinate” our plants; the ethanol we are forced to use even though it is destroying motors in our chainsaws, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc.; new medicines, both the ones you should ask your doctor about and the ones you should call a lawyer about; genetically engineered corn forced upon us regardless of how it will affect us; and nuclear power. Oil industry mistakes are obvious, but those in the nuclear industry are invisible, but very deadly.

Darwin’s fault, all of it! Moving along:

Our Declaration of Independence reads, “They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” and later, “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.”

That’s what it says. Darwin must have been an idiot! And now we come to the end of today’s letter:

Let’s take our beautiful state back from the liberals and the socialists.

[Writer’s name and city can be seen in the original.]

The letter says it all. We’re very impressed.

  1. Wow. What a masterpiece of logic and fact!

Seriously… again I ask, how are people this frakkin’ stupid? How? How? How?

I guess penicillin was a major oops! Our ability to transplant organs never happened!!! And never mind the science that got us into space in the first place… nope! That heathen Darwin screwed us all!

Sheesh, fundies! Use the brain that God gave you because you’re making God look foolish with your silly apologetics.

  2. The good folk of Augusta are blessed to have such an intellectual in their midst. Alas, I thought we were living in the greatest age of discovery in the history of humankind, nay, even hominoid kind, but now I am enlightened.

Only scientists who believe in the bible make great discoveries, and there are so few of them around anymore. Who knew?

  3. Hold on sec. How can someone put Einstein and Curie in the “pro” category but nuclear industry in the “con” category?

This judge awards him a 9.6 for the mental double backflip with a twist.

  4. I always wonder why they think their God is so repugnant that hordes of people flee from him given the slightest excuse to do so. Apparently the prospect of living forever in the vicinity of God is enough reason for people to come up with just anything to avoid such a prospect.

I wonder what such lack of faith in Jesus’ words that he will “draw all men unto me” gets one in the afterlife. I’m not sure, but I don’t think such people should exactly “dress for the cold,” if you know what I mean.

  5. Gabriel Hanna

In what sense was Einstein “bible-believing”?

  6. Gabriel Hanna asks:

In what sense was Einstein “bible-believing”?

You never saw him on the 700 Club? How could you have missed it?

  7. Welcome, my chums, to the wonderful world of democratised truth, the cult of equal opinion, the results of your shabby school system and mininformation laden airwaves and pulpits. Demo-crazy in a box and educations care of the backs of cerial packs and Hambo publicity fliers. Running in fear from the dreaded reds under the beds and liberals in your town halls you regularly vote with your hearts instead of your heads, and put power into the hands of faith deluded pearly toothed hypocrites and liars.

Hell, with this womans obviously well informed opinions Im surprised you guys havent made her head of education on the local school authority.

  8. You know, most of those religous scientists from throughout the ages were way more liberal than the creationists let on. their beliefs more more compartmentalized and science prevailed over religion and worship in their worldviews.
