Discovery Channel Terrorist: Darwin’s Fault!

WE knew it was coming, but we didn’t think it would happen so quickly. Within hours of the news that police had killed James J. Lee, the maniacal gunman, bomber, and hostage-taker who had terrorized the Discovery Building, home of the Discovery Channel, the Discovery Institute had posted a blog article blaming the affair on Charles Darwin.

Lee left behind a manifesto indicating that he was crazed over a tangled multitude of issues, primarily environmentalism, over-population, endangered animal species, illegal immigration, the “filth” of civilization, global warming, automotive pollution, international trade, factory pollution, and “the whole blasted human economy.” He claimed to have been inspired by Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”

True to their mission, the Discovery Institute couldn’t wait to blame the latest headline horror on Charles Darwin. We had expected this, but we thought it would be a job for David Klinghoffer, who has previously posted a series of essays attempting to link Charles Darwin to: Hitler, and communism, and Stalin, and the Columbine shootings, and Charles Manson, and Holocaust Museum shooter, James von Brunn, and the Ft. Hood Massacre, and Mao Tse-tung, and Dr. Josef Mengele, and the Occult, and most recently The Dark Side of Darwinism.

But this was so important that the task of blaming Darwin was carried out by none other than Bruce Chapman, founder and president of the Discovery Institute — a/k/a the Discoveroids. Chapman’s Seattle organization devotes about half of its resources to supporting and promoting the neo-theocrats at their creationist public relations and lobbying operation, the Center for Science and Culture. Chapman’s position makes him Lord High Keeper of the Discoveroids’ Wedge strategy, and the ultimate leader of all the cdesign proponentsists.

And now, dear reader, we present you with some excerpts from Fanatic Wanted Still More Darwin Programs, Chapman’s post at his own blog. The bold font was added by us:

It was both scary and pathetic at the Discovery Channel in Maryland today when an environmental terrorist took hostages in an attempt to force the television network to show more programs on Malthus and Darwin and to rail against over-population and global warming.

It’s true, the maniac’s long rant had two sentences making a brief mention of that, but it was almost lost in the vast ocean of his other issues. Let’s read on:

Oddly missing from initial news accounts was any mention of Darwin. But, in James J. Lee’s manifesto, emerges this clear demand: “Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people’s brains until they get it!!

That’s essentially all Chapman has to say — just two points: (1) the terrorist mentioned Darwin; and (2) the media didn’t mention Darwin. But thanks to Chapman’s keen eye and swift post, the Discovery Institute has connected the dots. Great minds think alike.

  1. A man is dead and these asshats care about is promoting their beliefs. If they were real Christians, they would be saying something ‘praying for his family and the family of the hostages’.

Liars for Christ indeed. Every real Christian ought to be beating the crap out of the DI people for making them look like morons.

Oh, David was the first fly to land on the corpse:

But they were so eager to score points from this deranged person that sending the filth-covered David wasn’t enough.

Like dogs returning to their vomit…

I missed that. No problem, I got Chapman, and he’s more fun. Maybe I’ll deal with Klinghoffer tomorrow.

  4. Just for the hell of it an dbecause I’ve had a crappy day and this pissed me off… I wrote this to the DI…

I’m really offended by Mr. Chapman’s recent article about the Discovery Channel hostage situation. A man is dead… his family, if he had one, is in shambles, there are several hostages and families in need of serious counseling. And all you care about is waving a bloody shirt (an offensive tactic no matter how it’s used) about Darwin. And dredging up Columbine? How insensitive can you be?

I thought that you people were Christians. Where’s the concern for the hostages and families affected by this horrific incident? How about a prayer for them? How about using some of that 4 million dollar budget to help out real problems in the real world instead of just blathering on about something that’s been decided and done with for a hundred years?

I’m going to encourage you to apologize for Chapman’s article.

Honestly, you’re making Christians look like insensitive pricks with this kind of thing.

Thank you for your concern (he said sarcastically)
    Kevin McCarthy

  5. Thanks for keeping those us from Away up to date on the response. All I had heard was mostly about the need to stop making more ‘filthy babies’, leading me to wonder what he expected us atheists to BBQ… chicken?

  6. Chapman’s logic is about as coherent as James J. Lee’s.

  7. More and more, they are showing their true colors.

  8. Y know those psychotic terrorists in The Lords Army…. y know….the shoot doctors in the head and blow up abortion clinics lot? Those CHRISTIAN terrorists….or those mad f**** The Huttarree Militia…or The Elohim christian nazis – Tim McVeigh’s mates…….

When they get shooty and bomby does the DI even say anything about the link between Jeebus and terrorism?

    No….thought not.

words tell you something, but so does silence….

  9. When they get shooty and bomby does the DI even say anything about the link between Jeebus and terrorism?

Why, yes they do. In those intsances they trot out the ‘one bad apple’ defense, because they’re hypocrites.

Any argument for a conversion. They’re ghouls that way – they use other people’s death, pain, madness, and misfortune as an opportunity to win converts.
