This article is a year old, but it’s very timely now that Michele Bachmann is seeking the Republican presidential nomination.
We found this in WorldNetDaily (WND) — the flamingly creationist, absolutely execrable, moronic, and incurably crazed journalistic organ that believes in and enthusiastically promotes every conspiracy theory that ever existed. They like Bachmann.
The title of WND’s article is Bachmann, socialism and Hitler – oh my! It’s written by John Aman, described as “director of communications at Coral Ridge Ministries.” That’s the church founded by James Kennedy. As you will soon see, his name will come up in this WND article. Here are some excerpts, with bold font added by us:
Some in the mainstream/left-wing media are shocked, shocked that Rep. Michele Bachmann shows up on the new Coral Ridge Ministries documentary, “Socialism: A Clear and Present Danger.”
Opposing socialism is just fine with us, and we don’t criticize Bachmann for that. Let’s read on:
What’s worse is that the documentary was “produced by an organization that has been previously criticized for linking the theory of evolution to the Holocaust,” as the Minneapolis Star-Tribune put it.
Yes, that’s the bad part. We don’t like the company Bachmann keeps.
The author then goes on to spew the debunked nonsense that can be found in Kennedy’s creationist propaganda video, Darwin’s Deadly Legacy. We’ve written about it several times, for example: when it was praised by WND, and also here, in connection with the Discovery Institute. For a complete debunking of the malevolent myth, see Hitler and Darwin.
Here’s a small sample of Coral Ridge’s cascade of creationist misinformation:
The argument for evolution’s impact on Hitler is strengthened by the fact that Darwinian thought heavily influenced Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hitler was hardly alone in his racist ideas fueled by Darwin and his intellectual progeny, who include Ernst Haeckel and Francis Galton, the founder of eugenics, which was a critical component of the Nazi killing machine. Hitler, according to Weikart, “was drawing on what many other scholars, biologists and geneticists in Germany were preaching and teaching in the early 20th century.”
Aman uses Weikart as his authority. He’s the Discoveroid “fellow” about whom we wrote The Shroud of Seattle. We continue:
As Dr. D. James Kennedy said in 2006, “We have had nearly 150 years of the theory of Darwinian evolution. And what has it brought us – whether Darwin intended it or not? Millions of deaths, the destruction of those deemed ‘inferior,’ the devaluing of human life and increasing hopelessness. Darwin’s legacy has been deadly indeed.”
Bachmann thinks it’s just dandy to make a documentary for Coral Ridge Ministries. This is from WND’s last paragraph:
And, come to think of it, that’s the legacy of socialism, too. Some 100 million people were killed by socialist regimes in the 20th century – as we detail in “Ten Truths About Socialism,” the book that accompanies the documentary.
So there you are — Bachmann is hanging out with propagandists like Coral Ridge Ministries — they put out misinformation about Darwin’s theory, and they not only link it to Hitler but then they compare it to socialism. Darwin’s work had nothing to do with either Hitler’s lunacy or socialism. See: Marx, Stalin, and Darwin. Saying that Darwin’s work led to one and is the same as the other … well, that’s beyond despicable.
What’s the bottom line? Bachmann is not only insane, which we already knew, but as WND has unwittingly informed us, she associates with some extremely dubious people.
