WorldNetDaily, Darwin, and Hitler

Buffoon Award

We sometimes mention “Darwin’s Deadly Legacy,” one of the sleaziest, most dishonest “documentaries” ever made. Today it’s available at a reduced price at the website of WorldNetDaily (WND) — the flamingly creationist, absolutely execrable, moronic, and incurably crazed journalistic organ that believes in and enthusiastically promotes every conspiracy theory that ever existed. WND was an early winner of the Curmudgeon’s Buffoon Award, thus that jolly logo displayed above this post.

The title of their article is exciting because it announces this bargain: Stunning Darwin-led-to-Hitler video – $4.95 today only! That video has an utterly wretched pedigree. It’s based on a book by Richard Weikart titled From Darwin to Hitler. Weikart is not only a Discoveroid “fellow” (i.e., full-blown creationist), his book influenced James Kennedy, the now-deceased televangelist who made the influential “documentary” Darwin’s Deadly Legacy. We might consider Weikart to be the intellectual godfather of the Discoveroids’ frequently-repeated malicious mantra: “No Darwin, no Hitler.” If he’s not the originator of that foul dogma, he’s certainly one of its principal pillars. For our thoughts on that issue, see Hitler and Darwin.

Hey, WND has previously touted this contemptible video and we wrote about it a year ago. See: WorldNetDaily Hits Bottom, Keeps Going Lower. Okay, now that you know what WND is selling, let’s see what they have to say about it this time. Here are some excerpts, with bold font added by us:

A powerful and critically acclaimed video documentary on Darwinism – which proves the evolutionary theory’s founder should share with Adolph Hitler the blame for the Holocaust, as well as for the more than 45 million American lives lost to abortion – is available today for just $4.95, a $20 discount from the normal $25.00 price, but only from WND.

Every moron in the world is rushing to take advantage of this opportunity. WND continues:

Titled “Darwin’s Deadly Legacy,” the stunning documentary shows that Darwinian theory, “which is scientifically bankrupt, has probably been responsible for more bloodshed than anything else in the history of humanity,” said Jerry Newcomb, one of the program’s two co-producers.

Darwin’s theory is “scientifically bankrupt”! You have WND’s word for it. Let’s read on:

And according to Ann Coulter, bestselling author of “Godless: The Church of Liberalism,” Hitler was simply taking Darwinism from the theoretical to the practical. “He thought the Aryans were the fittest and he was just hurrying natural selection along,” Coulter said.

Coulter is among the experts who appear in the special.

Coulter’s an expert? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!. It’s generally known that the creationist portions of her book came from William Dembski and Michael Behe. As the Wikipedia article on Dembski explains:

Dembski, along with fellow Discovery Institute associates Michael Behe and David Berlinski, tutored Ann Coulter on science and evolution for her book Godless: The Church of Liberalism. Approximately one-third of the book is devoted to polemical attacks on evolution, which Coulter, as Dembski often does, terms “Darwinism”.

So much for Coulter’s expertise. We continue:

The program also addresses eugenics, a term coined by Darwin’s own cousin, Francis Galton, who campaigned for using human genetics as a means to breed superior beings.

Darwin’s cousin? Oh m’god, his cousin! This is serious. No, it’s not. Actually it’s a stupid claim, because Darwin specifically repudiated Galton’s ideas, as we’ve discussed (with quotes and links to sources) in Racism, Eugenics, and Darwin. Here’s more:

We talk about the link between Darwin and Hitler, and in the middle ground, eugenics,” said Newcomb. “Darwin led to eugenics, which led directly to Hitler.”

In other words, they talk about nonsense. Moving along:

The culmination of that belief system appears to have been the Columbine massacre. There, students Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 12 other students, a teacher and themselves, after setting out on a plan to kill 500.

“Harris wrote on his website, ‘YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE??? Natural SELECTION! It’s the best thing that ever happened to the Earth. Getting rid of all the stupid and weak organisms,’” the documentary reports.

That’s solid proof, but of what? It proves those kids were crazy, and so is WND’s video. Ask yourself how many biologists behave like those two idiots? Answer: None.

You can click over to WND and read the rest of their worthless article. They give you links where you can buy the video. If you like trash — really bad trash — this is a great opportunity to get some at a bargain price. Go for it!

  1. One of the two shooters at Columbine was wearing a t-shirt that said “natural selection,” the trademarked logo of a shoot-’em-up online video game popular at the time.

He wasn’t referring to evolution, evolution theory, science, or Darwin. There is no evidence either of them knew anything more than the Discovery Institute propaganda about evolution.

  2. WND, quoting Ann Coulter: “[Hitler} thought the Aryans were the fittest and he was just hurrying natural selection along,”

What everyone needs to rub in the faces of these paranoid clowns is that Hitler was “hurrying along” the very “microevolution” within a “kind” that they concede does happen.

Also, I often like to note how WND and (Discoveroid) Michael Medved do not like each other. Yet they agree that (1) “Darwinism” lacks evidence, (2) acceptance of it leads to evil behavior, and (3) the “is/ought” fallacy that links those two lies. Since the “Hitler” thing is the last resort of a paranoid pseudoscience-peddling scoundrel, another thing that needs to be rubbed in the faces of those strange bedfellows, is how Ben Stein, the most well-known peddler of the Darwin-Hitler garbage, has never responded, positively or negatively, to these devastating criticisms.

  3. I’m sure it was someone on this blog who made the observation re: Darwin and Hitler, that, “Eugenicists, etc., did not like natural selection. They wanted “intelligent design”.” I’m sorry that I can’t remember who it was.

  4. Q. What do Adolf Hitler, Dylan Klebold, and Eric Harris have in common.

    A. They all (as far as we know) removed themselves from the human gene pool without reproducing.

There should be a moral in this somewhere.

  5. Hitler was professed Catholic, a vegetarian, and a failed artist. Clearly a combination that would drive any otherwise gentle soul to seek world domination.

Well, maybe not, but it’s at least as plausible as the Darwin connection.

  6. Ceteris Paribus

Gandhi was more certainly vegetarian than Hitler, who enjoyed sausages and ham. So between the remaining two factors, the question is would we prefer to go fishing with a professed Catholic who is a failed artist; or a failed Catholic who is a professed artist?

  7. WND, quoting Ann Coulter: “[Hitler} thought the Aryans were the fittest and he was just hurrying natural selection along,”

If Hitler thought that, he was using Herbert Spencer’s philosophy, and not Darwin’s science.

For what it’s worth, Darwin was on the verboten list for the Nazis. They didn’t study Darwin, they burned his books. Among other things, Darwin was a rich guy, and a Brit who loved Britain.

Hitler had read less Darwin than Ann Coulter. Odd how Coulter’s and Hitler’s views coincide almost exact, coming from about the same level of ignorance.

Maybe ignorance is the cause of Nazi war crimes. Maybe someone should watch Ann Coulter very closely.
