Today we have another author with a vanity press book who is promoting his work by paying for a press release. We learned of this via something called Earned Media, which is a bit of a misnomer — that term generally refers to unpaid publicity.
We’re not certain if Earned Media charges for its services, but their website says: “Earned Media posts to over 40 news servers.” The first one of those we looked at, Christian News Wire, provides a price list for their services, so we assume that what we found is the result of the author’s paid efforts to publicize his book.
The press release is titled Challenge to Organized Religion’s Bible Understanding of Creation. It tells of a book by Dr. Solomon Huriash titled Why Human Beings Do Not Need Blind Faith To Believe In Creationism, published by something called Land Publishing Corp. That website is about nothing but this book, so we assume it’s the author’s own vanity press operation. That’s very enterprising. If you order directly from the publisher’s website, the price is only $17.95 + $2.80 for handling and mailing charges.
We found the book at Amazon. They have one new copy for $4.24, and four used copies starting at $4.85 — a peculiar price strategy. There are no reviews yet. Perhaps yours will be the first.
From all the above indications, we assume this book fits into our listing of self-published geniuses who pay for press releases to promote their imaginary discoveries and pseudo-science ravings, so let’s see what the press release says. The bold font was added by us:
In his book “Why Human Beings Do Not Need Blind Faith To Believe In Creationism” author/researcher Professor Solomon Huriash has demonstrated that every verse of Genesis 1 is literally in sync with the teachings of modern science and that is the proof offered that only a Supreme Power had provided Moses with the details of creation as it would have been humanly impossible for Moses, or 1000 like him, to have known of every basic factor and their exact chronology in the creation story. Thus Huriash has presented the greatest academic challenge to organized religion in our time.
Wowie! This is the book you’ve been waiting for! What else does it tell us? The press release continues:
Huriash states that what made his findings possible were the discoveries over the last 75 years such as those that enabled scientists to prove 6 days of cosmic time equaled the billions of years of Earth-time as measured by the same clock because of the effects of gravity on time.
Yes, provided the Earth was then stationary while the universe was moving at nearly the speed of light. Or maybe the universe was in a black hole while the earth was elsewhere. The mind boggles at the possibilities. But you wouldn’t get both of those chronological results with the same clock. Let’s read on:
Among other findings was that the bible did mention dinosaurs and we now know that birds evolved from a winged species of dinosaurs. Things learned today could never have even been imagined by the Sages of yesteryear.
Amazing! Hey, this guy accepts evolution. Most unusual. One more excerpt:
Thomas Jefferson had said that the problem with organized religion is that it calls for blind faith and what is really needed is a rationale for belief. Huriash supplies that rationale by demonstrating the Bible’s sync with science.
Well, what are you waiting for? Don’t just sit there in a stupor — get the book!
