Another Creationist Toilet Camera Case

We’ve been looking, but we can’t find any news to report. At least, we can’t find anything directly related to creationism. So we’re bringing you news of a closely related topic — toilet cameras.

Surely you all remember the case of David McConaghie, the creationist who had been a high-ranking party official of Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (the DUP). As we previously posted (see Creationist Suspected of Bathroom Voyeurism), he was arrested in connection with the discovery of a toilet camera found in the loo of DUP member David Simpson’s constituency office. There’s been no news about him since then.

After that we posted Essential Creationist Gear: Toilet Camera, and then Cracking the Creationist Toilet Camera Case.

Well, we’ve got another. We present to you, dear reader, some excerpts from Perverted teacher is jailed for hidden camera antics, which appears at the website of the Derby Telegraph located in Derby in the East Midlands region of England. The bold font was added by us:

A TEACHER who filmed people on the toilet using a hidden camera has been jailed for 38 months. Last month, Russell Singleton pleaded guilty to 21 charges when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court.

No doubt about it — the man is obviously a creationist. Here’s more:

He admitted seven charges of sexual activity when he was in a position of trust; nine of taking indecent photographs; two of making indecent photographs and three charges of voyeurism, where he recorded women for his own sexual gratification. The charges related to children aged 13 to 17 years and adults between 18 and 24 years.

Seriously, dear reader — who but a creationist would engage in such activity? And another question comes to mind — what creationist would not do such a thing? The story continues:

Singleton worked at Alfreton Grange Arts College – formerly known as Mortimer Wilson Secondary School. Sentencing Singleton, Judge Michael Stokes QC said: “We do not send our daughters to school to be seduced by the teachers.”

One last excerpt:

Mark Watson, for Singleton, said the defendant’s wife of 31 years was completely unaware her husband had filmed girls secretly. He said: “She is totally devastated but stands by him.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! She stands by him. As do his fellow creationists, no doubt.

Okay, that’s all we’ve got for the moment. Feel free to use the comments as an Intellectual Free Fire Zone.

  1. Of David McConaghie, apprehended last November, our Curmudgeon notes:

There’s been no news about him since then.

Indeed not, and to my near-daily disappointment. I cannot account for such a long news drought on this pressing issue, but we must needs remain patient.

However slowly, Justice is surely approaching…

  2. Megalonyx, I make no hasty judgments, but have you noticed how many of these cases seem to arise in the UK?

  3. Curm,

I don’t mean to throw a jacket over your toilet cam, but really, we don’t really know this teacher was a creationist, yes? He might have taught evolutionary biology FAWK.

  4. Diogenes says: “He might have taught evolutionary biology”

When will you learn to trust me? The video in this BBC article says he taught music and drama.

  5. SC, I think you’ve been scooped by Jerry Coyne. He’s just posted this bit of filth. Kansas public school mandates “Creation Truth Foundation” assemblies

  6. Accusing someone of being a creationist is a serious charge you know. I hope the authorities discover he is one, but it seems a little early to make accusations…

  7. @PaulS:
And you beat me to it, dude. SC, please check out:
I think the best we can hope for is that this is a (stupid) hoax or a (not funny) joke.

  8. I’m with Diogenes. This guy is obviously a sleaze, but there’s nothing in what you posted to indicate he’s a creationist. At this point, it sounds like you’re using creationist as an epithet divorced from it’s actual meaning. Call him a creeper & a scumbag, but unless he’s done something to show it, why call him a creationist?

  9. A drama teacher who wants to see naked GIRLS? I don’t believe it.

  10. I investigated that Kansas public school story and yesterday got into a spirited debate on a creationist organization’s Facebook page about it. If anyone wants to chime in (or “Like” my comments, or heck please like “The Bicycling Guitarist” on Facebook [my band page]) the creationist page is at “CSAMA.of.Mid.America” on Facebook.

You need to scroll down a little to find my discussion. It starts when I comment on a link they posted about the ACLU protesting this event. I forget who to thank but it was on this blog here I heard the line about how if radiometric dating was bogus, then nuclear power plants would not work.

  11. I don’t know how long the debate will stay on their page. I posted on several other creationist Facebook pages too and my comments have been removed from two out of three of them. Ken Ham’s “museum” took mine down almost immediately!

  12. The Bicycling Guitarist says:

Ken Ham’s “museum” took mine down almost immediately!

They probably have you confused with that Elvis impersonator who’s been in the news lately.

  13. Apparently the guy’s strongest argument is that a pocket comb can not be produced by evolution. In his latest post he criticizes me for not addressing that important point. I must admit he does have me there. Pocket combs do not evolve, so maybe he is right?

I am amazed that my posts are still on their page though and I invite anyone from this blog to post on it if they want. It looks like he is finished with the debate though because he just gave a bunch of scripture verses saying how foolish and DOOMED anyone is who doubts a literal interpretation of the Bible.
