The Great Texas Textbook Hearing

There isn’t any news for us to report today, at least nothing’s popped yet, so we’ll show you this minute-and-a-half long video from the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). It’s their report on the recent hearing held by the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE), about which we wrote Tempestuous Texas Textbook Trouble.

CBN is very journalistic. They present both sides — as if there were two sides — which is just the way the creationists like it.

As a special treat, you get to see about 15 seconds of Don McLeroy, the creationist dentist, the dashing Dark-Ager with a dental drill. (He doesn’t have his drill with him, however. If he had brought it, his presentation would have been even more exciting.)

Go on, take a look. You’ve got 90 seconds to spare.

  1. At about the 1:04 mark, the illustrious Mental Dentist appears to give an obscene two-finger gesture, which normally only requires a single digit Stateside. Was it a special message for his fans in Europe?

  2. It was worth watching to the end to see the lady in the T-Rex costume! You go, sister!

Ha, Dum McLeroy says he’s “sick and tired of the rhetoric. Why don’t they show me the facts of evolution?”

Yeah, Don, how come you can’t use Google and Wikipedia?

  3. McLeroy is obviously related to Wendy Wright.

  4. Gary, you took the words right out of my mouth.

SC says: “CBN is very journalistic.” And unlike the outfit that made the Dawkins/Wendy Wright video, apparently CBN allows their crew a chance to use the public rest room before they start shooting.
