New Comic Book from Jack Chick

The most venerable of the creationists, Jack Chick, has a new comic book you can see at his website. It’s Rotten Rodney.

This one isn’t about creationism. Rodney is a creep who goes to jail. His equally evil cell-mate gets converted and saved by a prison chaplain. After that, both Rodney and his cell-mate die in a prison riot. The saved cell-mate goes to heaven, but Rodney ends up in the Lake of Fire.

Why are we bothering with this one? It’s because Jack Chick was born in 1924, and his output has been slowing down. His “newsletter” hasn’t been updated for months. One never knows when his last comic will appear. Then the Chick website will go the way of the Time Cube. What a loss that will be!

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of Jack Chick. If you haven’t yet seen his other comics, you can read them online using the links in this post: Creationist Comic Books. They’re classics — especially Big Daddy?

Aside from that, there’s no other news we could find today, so we’re declaring this to be an Intellectual Free Fire Zone. Talk about whatever you think is interesting — science, politics, philosophy, etc. Banter, babble, bicker, bluster, blubber, blather, blab, blurt, burble, boast — say what you will. But beware of the profanity filters.

We now throw open the comments to you, dear reader. Have at it!

  1. 91 years and he hasn’t contributed anything to the well being of society, what a wasted life.

Have fun with Cornelius Hunter’s 22 “false” predictions of evolution.
    Dumber than a post.

  3. The “Black Gorillas?” Could it be that Jackie is a tad racist too?

  4. @michaelfugate

    Many thanks for that!

  5. I’ve not come across those comic before, and from the first few panels I thought Rodney was going to be a Creationist, with his complete denial of evidence and his victim narrative.

  6. Magick Kitty is still kicking, and two people have contributed towards her vet bills. I am much obliged. Any further help is greatly appreciated. Look for Magick’s GoFundMe on the homepage of The Bicycling Guitarist website. Note: this kitty helps sustain the anti-creationism efforts of The Bicycling Guitarist

  7. 91 years and he hasn’t contributed anything to the well being of society, what a wasted life.

You must have known him much better than I did and can more fairly make that sweeping assessment. Some years ago I had understood him to be a very generous man who saw to the feeding of a great many of the homeless in his community. But you tell me he hasn’t contributed anything. So apparently I was misinformed.

  8. The “Black Gorillas?” Could it be that Jackie is a tad racist too?

That would surprise me greatly, for a number of reasons that I won’t belabor. And his artist for many years was an African-American gentleman. I don’t know if that man is still drawing all of the tracts.

  9. Since this is a FFZ, I’ll bring up a comment made by Prof T. in a previous thread: “…Fox News … as an example of atrociously unprofessional journalism.”

Didja hear who just bought National Geographic? Yep — Fox News.
RIP, NG. Grosvenor must be rolling in his grave.

  10. Fox no longer claims to be a news provider, the segments that just happen to appear to be exactly like the journalistic news programming people have become use to are now considered entertainment by Fox. So they aren’t a dramatically unethical news provider, they provide entertainment in the form of well what would the word be for politically controlled spin on current events?

  11. Didja hear who just bought National Geographic? Yep — Fox News.

Hmmm. I can just imagine the new cover stories:

“Noah’s Ark: A Full Color Photo Tour of All Three Decks” and

“Archaeologists Unearth Behemoth: A Sauropod Dinosaur.
    Just like Ken Ham said!”

    Coming Next Month:

Around-the-Clock Scientific Research at the Discovery Institute
    (Subtitle: The Laboratory at Night)

    The Nephilim: Giants to Remember

    Why Radiometric Dating is Evil

  12. 3rd Prof, I’ll stand by my assessment. Even if he fed thousands, that can’t compensate for the damage he’s done with his writing. Excusing him would be like excusing a wife beater as long as he buys his children ice cream.

  13. Paul S, you said he [Jack Chick] hasn’t contributed ANYTHING in 91 years of life. That is different from saying the damage he has done outweighs his contributions.

  14. Yeah, don’t be so hard on Jack Chick, Paul. After all, he’s provided the rational among us with many laughs.

  15. Oh, I can laugh at Jack Chick or at least at his ideas in the same way I can laugh at the absurd ideologies of a despot. My problem is that I can’t get past the notion that he’s intentionally trying to terrorize children.
