Pre-Kitzmas Free Fire Zone

Mars is red,
Uranus is blue,
Here’s a Free Fire Zone,
Just for you.

The creationists have been quiet lately. Perhaps they’re depressed because they know it’s only two weeks until Kitzmas.

This year will be the tenth anniversary of the decision on 20 December 2005 by Judge John E. Jones III in the case of Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District.

Whatever reason is for the news void, we once again need to entertain ourselves. We therefore declare another Intellectual Free Fire Zone.

We’re open for the discussion of pretty much anything — science, politics, economics, whatever — as long as it’s tasteful and interesting. Banter, babble, bicker, bluster, blubber, blather, blab, blurt, burble, boast — say what you will. But avoid flame-wars and beware of the profanity filters.

We now throw open the comments to you, dear reader. Have at it.

  1. After some discussions with another atheist I have decided that atheism is to narrow a term….I am now a-dogmatist! As ALL dogma is evil and stupid in the extreme. This means that stuff like xtians, isLame, Hindodo, are the same as Nazis, Stalin, polpot, and all the other dogmatic totalitarian or theocratic systems. Also ALL unquestioned traditions (usually based in religion) are also evil. This also fits, as I do not really like dogs either!

  2. Interesting pics of the California drought that are likely faked by liberals and evolutionary atheists:

  3. L.Long says: “I do not really like dogs either!”

    That is sub-human!

  4. Well SC after reading your blog and others for some time now…being sub-human could be a compliment, especially if old hambone is considered human!

  5. Kitzmas wish: That 2016 be the year that:

…more than ~1% of the people know about KItzmas, and what it really means. Which is not that God was banned from public school science class, but rather that ID was exposed for what it is – a radical, paranoid authoritarian scam to extort taxpayers for handouts to teach what has not earned the right to be taught, and grossly misrepresents that which has.

…people stop assuming that ID peddlers “believe this” or “don’t understand that,” or that they are “creationists,” “conservative” or “religious,” however true any of that may be for a given individual. And focus instead on what they do, which is spread misinformation and unhealthy mistrust of science.

…the media stops obsessing over Ken Ham, who only has a small, loyal following (only ~half committed YECs, by the way), which would believe its mutually-contradictory fairy tales with or without this effort. And that the media devotes more attention to the ID scam and its sleazy “don’t ask, don’t tell what happened when” meme-spreading strategy that has fooled a majority of the public, even though <1% can identify a single Discoveroid.

…people respond to laundry lists of misrepresentations of evolution not only by correcting them, but also by asking the "parrot" hard questions about his alternate "theory," starting with the basic "what happened when?"

…critics of ID/creationism stop responding to bogus charges of "censorship" only by showing that it’s not so, but rather by also showing that it is the anti-evolution movement that really promotes censorship.

I’ll add more as it comes to mind.

  6. @FrankJ
    I’d second that list.
There are some others that I would add – something about geocentrism would be one, something about preformationism would be another, but I don’t want to make the list too long.

  7. I don’t know if anyone here still reads David Coppedge’s blog that styles itself as a news site. (If anyone has forgotten, he’s the crank that worked for JPL and was fired for harassing his coworkers about ID and sued for discrimination.)

Anyway, he has a particularly unhinged recent post up titled “The Science Axis of Evil.”

Quote: “In their [scientist’s] misguided belief that science can be morally neutral, they become Satan’s tools to corrupt society.”

MA was LO into the floor.
