Creationist Wisdom #795: Darwinists Use Force

Today’s letter-to-the-editor appears in the Kelowna Capital News of Kelowna, British Columbia. It’s titled Jesus never forced anyone to believe in him, and the newspaper has a comments feature.

Because the writer isn’t a politician, preacher, or other public figure, we won’t embarrass or promote her by using her full name. Her first name is Evelyn. Excerpts from her letter will be enhanced with our Curmudgeonly commentary and some bold font for emphasis. Here we go!

I can understand that people have a bad view of religions. Throughout history so many religions have persecuted those who did not believe as they did. Religion was being forced on people; children were made members of religious groups before they were old enough to make a choice.

No one can argue with that. Then she says:

Jesus never ever forced anyone to believe in him but he did invite them.

All those bad guys who murdered unbelievers, heretics, and witches — they weren’t true Christians! After that, Evelyn tells us:

Truth is eternal. Truth always remains truth, whether it is believed or not. You can disbelieve the facts about gravity because you cannot see gravity, but the truth that gravity exists does not change.

Good analogy! She continues:

People who do not believe that God is the creator of the universe, all plant, animal and human life, have often made another god for themselves such as science, evolution, or their moral goodness, etc.

She’s talking about you, dear reader, and your false god of science. Let’s read on:

True Christianity has never forced its beliefs on anyone, but true believers realize that people need to know the truth. It is because Christians realize the utmost importance of the gospel that they proclaim this good news to people so they at least have a chance to hear about it before they die and face eternal damnation without God.

Evelyn doesn’t really want to force her beliefs on you — but you need to know The Truth. All she wants to do is give you a chance. Another excerpt:

Contrary to true Christianity, evolution and Darwinism have been forced as curriculum in the schools and textbooks, and they have forced any talk of God and Christ out. Children are allowed no choice, it is forced on them. Is that fair?

Egad, she’s right! Darwinists are using force to promote their false religion! Here’s more

I would encourage a study of the bible to see how amazingly the predictions of thousands of years ago in the Old Testament are fulfilled in a very timely way in the New Testament through Jesus Christ’s, birth, death resurrection.

None can deny it! And now we come to the end:

We now await the predictions of the end times when he returns for those who have chosen him. Christ’s invitation is still open to all.

The End is coming, dear reader. Are you ready?

  1. Oh. She’s talking about when children in public schools were FORCED to pray (using xian prayers) and FORCED to read the xian bible or listen to someone read from it. Or did I miss something?

  2. Evelyn wants us to know that the baby jesus is coming back sometime. My response is the same one I gave to some guy waving a book (I assume a bible) on 42nd Street in Manhattan and shouting “He’s coming – you must believe”. Y’all be sure to let me know when he gets here.

  3. And those parents who spanked their child who didn’t want to go to Sunday school?
And what about those teachers who get fired for deviating from from the official doctrine of the school?
How many preachers are there who are secretly doubters of what they are preaching, who know that they are unemployable, what will happen to their family … I suggest that any True Christians not ask too deeply about their beloved preacher.

  4. Michael Fugate

I think Evelyn is saying that almost no one has ever practiced “true” Christianity – except Jesus, of course.

  5. TomS
The Bible advises that parents discipline their children with rods or they (their children) will end up in Hell. Spanking is a pipe dream for biblically raised kids.

  6. I wonder if Evelyn can name another “truth” such as gravity that was discovered by (any) religion. And it is weird that scientific discoveries like the acceleration due to gravity never require a caveat like; “English” laws of motion, “German” special relativity, “Gallic” infinity, “French” microbial causes of disease, etc.
If it is universal, by definition, it does not require a designator. Seems to me a good way to separate fact from fiction.
If you have to say “Christian” blah blah blah. Then the blah is BS.
This works for all “religions” blah blah blah – if it requires a religious designator, it is BS.
I would submit this as a new Sensuous Curmudgeon category:
SC rule number 1: if it requires a religious designator, it is either total BS, or previously known to science and so has no need of the designator.

  7. Dave Luckett

True Christians don’t enforce belief. True Scotsmen don’t commit horrific murders.

  8. She said “…true believers realize that people need to know the truth…”
1st-total BS! 2nd..Well your book of BS is out there for all to find, we don’t need you telling us the TRUTH! If I want it I can go get it, as I do when I read a science book!

  9. Evelyn: “… they have forced any talk of God and Christ out. Children are allowed no choice, it is forced on them. Is that fair?”

Evelyn is probably PROFOUNDLY unworried that school children aren’t allowed the “choice” of indoctrination into Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism or what have you. It is only the absence of her own favorite religion that worries her.

  10. Children are “forced” to learn arithmetic, too, and “social studies,” and all sorts of other things. What Evelyn seems to be upset about is that they’re not forced to learn the biblical creation story as history and science.

  11. Just a small point which is often left uncontested to the anti-evolutionists: There is more than one creation story in the Bible, and none of them is “evolution is false, except micro-evolution which happened in a huge burst after Noah’s flood”.

  12. @Eric Lipps: “Children are “forced” to learn arithmetic, too”
And arithmetic includes the distributive law. Blatant socialist propaganda.

  13. Michael Fugate

And aren’t things like algebra and algorithm Arabic in origin? Isn’t this a blatant attempt to impose Sharia law on the US? And what about those chemtrails? Like Lively in the WND post – forget turtles, it’s conspiracy theories all the way down.

  14. Haha, the NT is filled w/Jesus’ threatening villages and innocent children w/eternal damnation if they don’t believe in him:
