The Curmudgeon and the Hurricane, Part 3

That’s a pic of the latest computer projection models, as of 11:00 AM, Eastern Time Zone. If you’re in Florida, it doesn’t matter where you are — it’s coming.

We expect to survive, so we won’t be in the Lake of Fire, but while the storm is raging we’ll be in a dark, candle-lit house of doggie poo without air conditioning — which may be just as bad.

We don’t expect to lose power today, but it’s inevitable, perhaps tomorrow. It’s impossible to predict when power will be restored, so unless something really amazing shows up in our news sweeps while we’re still able to post, this will probably be our last for a while.

This is an ideal time for an Intellectual Free Fire Zone. We’re open for the discussion of pretty much anything — science, politics, economics, whatever — as long as it’s tasteful and interesting. Banter, babble, bicker, bluster, blubber, blather, blab, blurt, burble, boast — say what you will. But avoid flame-wars and beware of the profanity filters.

We now throw open the comments to you, dear reader. Have at it.

  1. This is God’s just retribution on the sinful population of Florida. If it weren’t for the sinners in the state, God would not have sent this hurricane. That the hurricane is ginormous indicates the level of sin in that state. Since God has willed this destruction, there should be no outpouring of private or public help to the states of Texas or Florida because of these punishments.

  2. Obviously this storm is meant to punish all those secular Jewish retirees down there who refuse to let Jesus into their hearts and repent of any sinful support they may feel for demonic ideas like evolution before it’s too late.

  3. Eric – add the Amish and Mennonites who flock to Sarasota and Pinecraft 🙂

  4. Having driven through central Florida many times I think if God is punishing anyone, it’s cows.

  5. Hans Weichselbaum

    Stay safe!

  6. Every time they say “spaghetti model” on the Weather Channel I think “Spaghetti monster”

  7. Here’s hoping all is well in the Florida Arc…

  8. No thanks to Yahweh, it did stay more westerly than the model predicted. So far for weather models.

I wonder what Key West looks like now.

  9. Last I heard over 6m households without power. Hoping SC and the dogs are ok.

  10. Make that customers, not households. The number includes businesses and has reached over 7M.

  11. Paul S says: “Last I heard over 6m households without power. Hoping SC and the dogs are ok.”

I was one of those without power — for about 36 hours. It’s just been restored. All is well, but I have a lot of catching up to do.

  12. 🔔🎈😀

  13. SC survived, take that Hambo
