Creationist Wisdom #957: Creation Is Science

Today’s letter-to-the-editor appears in the News-Gazette of Champaign, Illinois. The letter is titled Stop teaching lies to our children, and they don’t seem to have a comments section.

Because the writer isn’t a politician, preacher, or other public figure, we won’t embarrass or promote him by using his full name. His first name is Dan. He writes a lot of letters, and we’ve posted about a couple of them before — the last time was #931: Creation Is Fact. Excerpts from his latest letter will be enhanced with our Curmudgeonly commentary, some bold font for emphasis, and occasional Curmudgeonly interjections that look [like this]. Here we go!

Evolution became a laughable myth in the 20th century, disproven by millions of discoveries [Millions!], such as polymerase being a product of its own translation. [Huh?] Also there is no vestigial or junk DNA. [Yeah, right!] These prove special creation. [BWAHAHAHAHAHA!]

What about polymerase? We wrote about that only once before when it popped up at the ICR website, which is probably where Danny boy gets his information — see ICR: Coral Evolution Is Proof of the Bible.

Okay, dear reader, now settle down for a long ride. That was only Danny’s first paragraph. Then he says:

Everybody on Earth today has the same anatomy, only different amounts of each part and system of the same anatomy, proving that everybody that lived since our original ancestors Adam and Eve lived had the same anatomy for that to be possible.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Our similar anatomy is because we’re all the same species, but it doesn’t tell us anything about Adam & Eve. Danny thinks otherwise, and he tells us:

This is true with the dog kind or with the cat kind, no evolutionary differences within each kind.

Can’t argue with that! He continues:

The story of evolution is not a theory [Gasp! It’s only a story!] since no theory have [sic] ever been formed to explain how evolution could be possible and that no evidence has ever existed to show that it has or could occur.

Wowie! There’s no evidence for the “story” of evolution! Let’s read on:

Also, thousands of observable scientific facts [Thousands!] prove evolution to be impossible. I can show the fraud in every claim [Gasp!] that the evolutionists use to promote their philosophy of evolutionism.

It’s all a fraud! Another excerpt:

Since the story of evolution is a lie, no honest person can promote it. [Right!] It is wicked for schools to teach children lies, especially lies that will affect the way that they live their lives.

Got that, dear reader? Teaching evolution is wicked! Here’s more:

Knowing that God created everything is not a religion, but is a proven scientific fact. [Yes!] A religion consists of how and what you decide to worship.

Danny is right — creation isn’t a religion, it’s science! And now we come to the end:

Allowing children in the classroom to know that God created everything is both legal and very important.

Brilliant letter, Danny! Your Curmudgeon is pleased.

Fact free, theory free, logic free, that sums up Dan’s effort.

  2. @Michel Fugate: …but filled with information free opinions!

  3. @Michael – but Dan at least concedes that evolution is a story. He is not in total denial.

  4. He really really ought to publish his evidence. It would completely upend biology since Linnaeus and, I suspect, geology since Steno. But alas, he leaves us in our wicked ignorance. More’s the pity.

  5. .

[*Voice from above*] Your fastidiousness is a marvel to behold!

  6. @Abeastwood is charitable: “with information free opinions”
So when my parrot shouts “bulls**t!” he also expresses an opinion?!

@PaulB needs help: “ought to publish his evidence”
All the evidence you need is in the Bible.

I am thoroughly impressed by this particularly dense philistine. Fascinating!

  8. As long as every human being has the same anatomy, any mass of cells which does not have identity of the organs of a “standard” human is not a human.
We can compare and contrast the anatomy of humans with those of chimps, or of Neanderthals, or of Australopithecines. Or of their embryos. That should provide guidance to what counts as identity of anatomy.

  9. But was the Bible ever peer reviewed?

  10. Whatever possesses papers to publish this gibberish is mystifying. Or is it simply a pandering to religious notions. Clearly Dan’s letter lacks any facts or reason but simply draws on nebulous religious nonsense to back up his words.

“Everybody on Earth today has the same anatomy, only different amounts of each part and system of the same anatomy,…”

I, for instance, have three lungs and 2 hearts. But no beard or mustache.

  12. @PaulB remains skeptical: “But was the Bible ever peer reviewed?”
    Of course! By YHWHJesus himself!

  13. Wow….Possibly the most illiterate creationist letter The Curmudgeon has ever found and published. At least I cannot recall anything quite so primitive in the reading I’ve done at SCs blog. Anyone?

  14. Primitive indeed. Minor Dan claims there’s no vestigial or junk DNA. Is he saying genomes are 100% fully functional? That’s going to produce a lot of mutations, which I’m betting Dan thinks are all deleterious, anyway.

Difficult to build a solid house (or argument) without solid foundations. I’ve never heard of a creationist who gets descent with modification, for instance; or that reproductive isolation in populations can eventually lead to speciation i.e. “dog kind” and “cat kind” (in keeping with Dan’s primitive terminology). When you get the basics of evolutionary theory, you can no longer be a creationist.

Dan comes on like the Big Bad Wolf, huffing and puffing, but he fails to knock any houses down.

  15. “Everybody on Earth today has the same anatomy, only different amounts of each part …”

Yes, as has been pointed out, Nature gives some men a ding instead of a dong.

  16. So… Dan is a product of Ham’s madrassa?

  17. Techreseller

It is amazing the amount of random strings of words Dan is able to put together. If I was an 8th grade English teacher (which I am not and never have been), I would grade this paper an F. Incoherent. Lacks citations for the claims. Sentences do not follow from the previous sentence. Nor do the paragraphs seem to have any sort of flow. We will, for the foreseeable future, need people to work the counter at McDonalds and similar places. Thanks Dan.

Evolution became a laughable myth in the 20th century, disproven by millions of discoveries such as polymerase being a product of its own translation. Also there is no vestigial or junk DNA. These prove special creation.

If evolution has long since become a “laughable myth,” why does it remain the cornerstone of biology? (It’s all a plot against God by Satan-inspired secular scientists!

Everybody on Earth today has the same anatomy, only different amounts of each part and system of the same anatomy, proving that everybody that lived since our original ancestors Adam and Eve lived had the same anatomy for that to be possible. . . .
This is true with the dog kind or with the cat kind, no evolutionary differences within each kind.

Then I guess lions and tigers don’t exist, or hyenas or jackals either. Even most professional creationists these days don’t claim there is no evolution within kinds. (Rank and vile, er, rank and file believers are of course another matter.)

And these are, of course, only two of the absurdities “Dan” has to offer in his semi-coherent rant.
