What You’ve Always Wanted: Creationist Clothing!

Two weeks ago we wrote Wowie — the Discoveroids Have a Gift Shop!, but we didn’t think it would be a whole new source of amusement. It seems we may have been wrong. At the Discovery Institute’s creationist blog they just posted Funny and Thoughtful Intelligent Design-Themed T-shirts? We’ve Got Them!

The Discoveroids’ author is Amanda Witt, whom we first encountered in our earlier gift shop post. The shop seems to be her sole area of concern. Here are some excerpts from her new post, with bold font added by us for emphasis, and occasional Curmudgeonly interjections that look [like this]:

For years now our supporters have been asking for Discovery Institute t-shirts.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s rather difficult to imagine, but if Amanda says the demand has been going on for years, there’s no reason to doubt her. Then she says:

Well, they’re here! [Hooray!] Both long- and short-sleeved shirts with our logo are now available at the Discovery Institute-CSC Zazzle store, as are t-shirts featuring intelligent design humor, and t-shirts featuring thoughtful quotations by scientists willing to acknowledge design in nature. Take a look at our t-shirt line to see all our wearable designs.

We often omit creationists’ links, but we gave you Amanda’s. Click over there and enjoy what she calls “intelligent design humor.” Their inventory is amazing!

Amanda finishes her post with a very wise cautionary note:

As we’ve mentioned before, however, if you are in a vulnerable employment situation, please enjoy these shirts only in the privacy of your own home.

Yes, you should never let your scientific colleagues see you wearing creationist clothing. It’s prudent to keep your true identity in the closet.

  1. I like “this body is intelligently designed”. Parents apparently had nothing to do it (you know, shortsighted naturalism) about nine months before birth.

  2. Why do they feature Charles Darwin, F.R.S., in front of an Americn flag?

And, are those birds or B-52’s flying overhead?

  3. Michael Fugate

Carrier pigeons? Nah, that would require they knew something about Darwin…

  4. Have you ever seen anything as sad as their Zazzle store? LMFAO!

  5. Theodore J Lawry

I think it’s disgusting that the DI would quote Darwin saying “a fair result can only be obtained by fully stating and balancing the facts and arguments on both sides of each question.” as if THEY were the ones trying to fair and as if biologists haven’t considered all the arguments. Smug hypocrites!

  6. I’d call that a grift store.

  7. And by “vulnerable employment situation” they mean “if your job is normally associated with a need to think clearly”.

  8. Puck Mendelssohn

I’m confused. I went to the site hoping to get an “I’m with Stupid” shirt with a picture of Stephen Meyer on it, but there’s nothing even close.

  9. I like how the ice cream cone in one of the “This Body Is Intelligently Designed” T shirts points directly at the model’s camel toe.
