Herman Cummings Challenges the Whole World!

We know you remember Herman Cummings. He’s the author (using the pen-name “Ephriam”) of Moses Didn’t Write About Creation!

Our last post about him was Herman Cummings, Genesis Genius, Tells All! Before that we posted Herman Cummings, Genesis Genius — Again!, describing how Herman would rent lecture halls, advertise, and distribute fliers, but virtually no one would come to his lectures. Yet he perseveres!

As before, Herman’s latest appears at a website called iNewp — the People’s Press. We still know nothing about them, but they’re willing to publish Herman’s articles and for that the world should be grateful. To our surprise and delight, Herman has two articles appearing at that venerable website. The first was a few days ago: The Hypocrisy of “Young Earth” Creationism.

That one is the more important of Herman’s two articles, because if you scroll down once you get there, you’ll find Herman’s challenge. Here are some excerpts, with bold font added by us:

This letter is written to the following “Young Earth” (Creation Science, Flood Geology) creationism groups: Young Earth Organization, Answers in Genesis, Institute of Creation Research, Creation Research Society, Creation Ministries International, Creation Studies Institute, and the Kolbe Mission Center. These groups will be referred to as “YEC”.

Being “copied in” is the National Center for Science Education (NCSE), whom I hope to publicly confront with the truth of our origins. I am serving the NCSE notice that I hope/plan to face off against them in a public examination of the geologic and fossil record data. They want to maintain the monopoly of the evolution theory being taught in public schools, which actually supports the tenets of Atheism. That is unconstitutional, and has poisoned the minds of mankind.

Herman doesn’t do things in a small way. Let’s read on:

But first things first. All of the above “young Earth” creationist groups are being given the opportunity to band together with me in this venture, by accepting and propagating the truth of Genesis, rather than the failed and foolish doctrines they now adhere to. Genesis is not a joke book, as these organizations present it to be. Genesis is a book of history, and advanced math & science, being literally true.

All those YEC organizations were given a fair opportunity to accept the Cummings challenge. Herman’s letter continues:

In seven days, starting from March 2nd 2011, this letter will be made public. The YEC groups have until then to resolve the issues that are later presented in this epistle. I am presently under the impression that most all “young Earth” advocates are hypocrites, and will refuse to accept the truth of scripture.

[We’re skipping Herman’s specific factual questions to the YEC organizations, which you’ll want to read for yourself.]

Either band together, and accept the truth of Genesis, or be exposed as hypocrites, which deny both the complete literal truth of God’s Word,and the discovered reality of our natural world. Be advised that those that continue to be in denial, after exposure to the truth, are generally considered insane.

They had their warning. So what happened? At the beginning of his article in iNewp — the People’s Press, Herman says this:

They didn’t respond. For years, such creationist groups have been running away from reality, teaching their failed and foolish doctrines, misrepresenting the Word of God. I urge everyone to stop giving donations to these “creationist clowns”, that refuse to both learn and teach the truth of Genesis. Every time I confront them with correct “literal interpretation” of scripture, they either redefine the scripture’s meaning, or run away.

In case you didn’t know, the correct opposing view to the evolution theory is the “Observations of Moses”, not the falsehoods of (young Earth) Creationism. For seventeen years, these hypocrites have resisted even learning what the truth is, let alone admitting to their ignorance of scripture.

But wait — there’s more! A few days later Herman posted this at the same website: The Infidelity of “Old Earth” Creationism. Yes, you guessed it. Herman also sent a challenge to Old-earth creationists (OEC). He provides what he says is a link to that letter, but his link takes us back to the YEC challenge so we haven’t seen the OEC challenge. Anyway, here’s some of what he says about the reaction to it:

Only one group responded (along with the NCSE). For many years, both old and young Earth creationist groups have been either running away from reality, or denying the literal truth of God’s Word. Infidelity, within this article, is defined as being unfaithful, disloyal, and being a traitor to the literal meaning of the Genesis text. God’s Word is not allegorical, and contains no metaphors or myths.

The National Center for Science Education responded? Amazing! And another group too? We continue:

It is appalling that “old Earth” creationist groups will compromise with the (false) conclusions of the world of science, defaming the Scriptures. Yes, the Earth and universe are billions of years old, but there was no Big Bang, nor did life on Earth develop via evolution. The correct reading of Genesis explains both the fossil and geologic records from the ancient past.

It must be so frustrating for Herman to be the only human alive who knows The Truth™. Here’s more:

The NCSE responded, saying that they disagreed with “my interpretation” of Genesis. I told them that that was unlikely, because they didn’t know what “my interpretation” was. I asked them to tell me what it was. I guess that they are still trying to uncover what it is, because they never wrote back.

That’s all there is, and we’re not told who else responded besides the NCSE. Perhaps Herman will drop in, as he usually does, to provide us with more information.
